In 2023, among 20 peer cities competing for the same meeting business, Omaha ranked last on meeting-room capacity. Groups liked the city. They outgrew the breakouts.
The expansion adds exactly what was missing. Sixteen meeting rooms today become 41 by fall 2027, enough to run concurrent sessions for a large multi-day convention without leaving the building.
The glass went where people gather. Prefunction space now lines the building’s east face, where loading docks and stair towers once stood.

When does the CHI Health Center Omaha expansion open?
The expansion opens in fall 2027. Renovation of the existing convention center is expected to wrap up near the end of 2027.
How many meeting rooms will the convention center have?
41 meeting rooms when the expansion opens in fall 2027, up from 16 today. The 25 new rooms will sit on the third and fourth floors with riverfront views.
How much space does the expansion add?
The two-level addition adds 90,000 square feet on the east side of the building, bringing CHI Health Center Omaha to 420,000 square feet of reimagined convention space.
