Traffic closure along I-480 will impact event traffic in downtown Omaha this weekend.
Beginning Friday, May 30, at 9 p.m., I-480 will be closed in both directions at Harney Street as part of the Harney Street bridge reconstruction project. The interstate will reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 2.
KEY DETAILS:
Location of Impact: I-480 from Harney Street to Dodge Street exit in both directions
Duration: The closure will be from May 30 at 9 p.m. until June 2 at 6 a.m., weather permitting.
DIRECTIONS
Southbound I-480 traffic will be detoured via the Dodge Street exit. Northbound I-480 drivers can exit at Harney Street, take 28th Street northbound, and re-enter I-480 after Dodge Street. Signage for the detours will also be posted along the route.
Drivers can also avoid I-480 congestion by continuing on I-80 and taking the 13th Street exit into downtown. I-80 can also be taken into Council Bluffs, IA. From there, drivers can utilize I-29 north and connect to I-480 to cross back into downtown Omaha.
This is the second of several planned weekend closures for the Harney Street Bridge reconstruction project. Your patience is appreciated as the necessary infrastructure improvements are made.
