In November 2024, Omaha voters approved a $200 million general obligation bond to fund a major expansion and renovation of CHI Health Center’s convention center. Construction began in January 2025, with a grand opening set for fall 2027. This isn’t a proposal — it’s already underway.

The two-level addition will feature sweeping glass walls with views of the Missouri River, 25 new meeting rooms and 90,000 additional square feet of event space. As the convention center’s footprint grows, the existing space is also being renovated, creating a seamless, modernized transition across all 420,000+ square feet of the convention center. When complete, CHI Health Center Omaha will compete directly for conventions that were previously out of reach due to size constraints.
